My friend Jim runs Stikkit Technology.
I am fortunate enough to claim some involvement.
Visit the website at the link above to see what Stikkit is all about.
Jim has put a lot of work into this business and I think its going to go places.

My friend Bucky has come up with a game concept and has gathered a few of us together to make the project a reality.

Electronics

Christmas Decoration a la AS Electronics.
I made a Christmas decoration for my AS Electronics project.
I have a bit of a thing for electronics, I really enjoy logic, and this was a really fun project.
I never got the opportunity to get the project back from the college after it was marked, and for some unknown reason, I lost my documentation.
So my plan is to recreate this project over the summer.
My latest accomplishment for this is that I've finally re-designed the logic. I've mapped it all out using a logic simulator we used at Warwick. Now I just have to get round to buying all the bits...

Battleships

Many moons ago I made a Battleships game in VB. It was only wee but I was proud of it. Unfortunately, the only completed copy was on my laptop that got stolen. I've now decided to make another Battleships game. This one is going to be even better. My plan was to use C++ as the backend, and Java to make the front end. Some people may consider that unnecessary, but the point is to be a learning experience for me - to learn how to combine the two languages and make them talk to each other.
On mentioning this idea to Joe, he suggested Qt to me. I think it looks fabulous so now I'm going to be using that, and am currently wading through shedloads of demos and documentation as I can't just dive straight in. But me being me, I'm enjoying the learning.
I'm rather excited about this so watch this space, I shall put the game up on here when I'm done.

List

I'm about to go on a year in industry. I don't entirely know what I will be doing yet, but I would like to keep my skills active.
Basically I intend to write a few programs throughout the year in the languages I know, and maybe even learn some new ones.
Unfortunately I rather lack in the creative department, so I'm always stuck for ideas.
So if anyone has an idea for something interesting for me to make, or you realise you want a program to do something to make life easier, just email me and if I like the idea and think I can do it, I'll add it to the list here.
As an example, when I was working at Atos, I was taking phone calls all day, and when you're on varying shifts, you lose track of the concept of time. As a result, I found it really difficult to remember on the spot whether I needed to say "Good Morning" or "Good Afternoon". I knocked up a quick little app in VB that just sat at the top of the screen, it told me the day and date, and it told me what greeting I needed to use. It was a subtle concept but very effective.
The first item on my list is my Battleships game above, which is now in progress.
